Leroy Merlin enriches its Enki ecosystem with two new surveillance

Leroy Merlin enriches its Enki ecosystem with two new surveillance cameras, for exterior and interior, via its Lexman brand. Simple and economical models, but adapted to complex scenarios for a connected home.

Rather discreet compared to the giants Amazon, Apple and Google, Leroy Merlin continues his journey in the world of home automation and continues to enrich his Enky ecosystem, which already has more than 450 products from 25 different brands (Somfy, Legrand, Philips Hue, Wiz, Eglo Connect…). On the video surveillance side, the firm already offered several devices from Somfy, Arlo, Netatmo and Diagral. On October 18, it is launching two new connected cameras (via Wi-Fi) under the Lexman brand – the group’s electrical, power and control equipment brand. ADEOowner of Leroy Merlin and other DIY stores such as Bricoman, Bricomart or Bricocenter -, and developed in Lezennes, near Lille, which allows the brand to qualify them as “made in France” products, even if it is assumed that most of their components come from Asia…

Lexman connected cameras: video surveillance integrated into Enky

Leroy Merlin did not seek the complication to baptize its cameras Lexman. Simply called Lexman Connected Wired Motorized Indoor Security Camera, the first camera is very logically intended for indoor use. White, it measures 120 x 70 mm with a fairly compact rendering. It is a wired model, without battery, which must be powered via a cable with a micro-USB socket. Its video sensor works in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), sufficient definition in most situations. Above all, it is motorized, which allows it to rotate 355° horizontally and 180° vertically, and therefore not suffer from any blind spots – even if its optics are limited to 100°. It can be controlled remotely thanks to Wi-Fi, but also has motion detection and tracking up to 5 meters and an infrared mode to see at night – the quality of the rendering remains to be seen. It can also detect sounds and offers a “babycare” mode which could prove interesting. Finally, the built-in two-way audio allows you to listen to what’s happening while talking with someone, and a “private” mode allows you to hide the lens – and therefore to be sure that no one is having fun watching. . The camera has a microSD slot to be able to store recordings.

The other model, baptized in an equally basic way Lexman Connected Wired Outdoor Security Camera, is well intended for outdoor use. If it takes up some characteristics of the indoor camera, with a Full HD image definition (1920 x 1080 pixels and 100° optics), it is however not motorized, which is a shame: once fixed, it can only orient itself manually, without being able to turn on command. This is also a wired model, with two-way audio – but obviously without the baby monitor mode – and local storage on a microSD card. It has an infrared range of 10 meters and a PIR sensor for more precise motion detection. Of course, it is resistant to water and dust, but the protection index is not indicated, which is regrettable.

If these Lexman cameras offer fairly basic functions, they are especially interesting for their price and their integration into Leroy Merlin’s Enki ecosystem. Indeed, this allows the user to create complex scenarios, such as ringing the alarm or activating the light – via a connected bulb – when a presence is detected. They are available from October 18 at Leroy Merlin, for a price of 40 euros for the indoor model, and 60 euros for the outdoor model. Note that, from October 19 to November 7, 2022, an introductory offer allows you to buy both for a set at 80 euros.
