For its anniversary, the Bon Marché Rive Gauche is pulling out all the stops. On the program: immersive theatre, unique shopping, pop graphic visuals and stunning gifts.

The holidays are over and the routine is gradually returning. But don’t worry: the Cheap Left Bank intends to spice up the start of the school year. Until October 16, 2022, the iconic Parisian store is offering its regulars dozens of surprises to celebrate the event. And highlights its flagship color:orange. A nuance declined in all its forms by the brands distributed in the Germanopratin temple of shopping: American Vintage, Guerlain, Acne Studios, AMI, Maje, Cartier, New Balance, Jimmy Fairly… All have imagined collector’s items to unearth in the four corners of the store. Do they crack you up? Do not hesitate. At each checkout, a ticket for the big birthday raffle waiting for you !

On the road of this colorful journey, staged by the Toqué brothers, two cheerful artists, activities for young and old: nail art bar, orange café, pictorial labyrinth, popcorn factory, vintage stands… Not to mention an exhibition on the lingerie orchestrated by Lisa Chavy’s label, Livy, and a responsible collection, Earth Pleasure Chapter II imagined for the department store. And to close the show, every Friday and Saturday evening until December, head to 24, rue de Sèvres for an immersion in the novel. At the Ladies’ Happiness by Zola. Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche is transformed into theater staging its past in which the public must, accompanied by the actors, solve the mystery that surrounds this mythical place… An experience to live with the family from 12 years old.

This season, the emblematic address on rue de Sèvres pays homage to its own history, which began 170 years ago thanks to the couple’s vision Boucicaut. A glass palace with a metallic structure, the Bon Marché Rive Gauche represented elegance and modernity, the first step towards consumer society. Captured by Zola in his novel At the Ladies’ Happinessthis precursor to contemporary shopping is described by the author as: “The cathedral of modern commerce (…) made for a nation of customers.” Shop windows stir up desire, women flock to the shelves to touch the fabrics and try on the dresses; everything is orchestrated to arouse temptation. The revolution is on and the hit continues, since, more than a century and a half later, the Bon Marché Rive Gauche still reigns supreme, a symbol of luxury and good taste Parisian.
