At Chad, one week before the presidential election on May 6 which will complete the three years of the transition, the candidates have started the home stretch to convince voters. This is the case of the opponent Brice Mbaimon Guedmbaye, candidate of the Movement of Chadian Patriots for the Republic (MPTR) party. He was this April 29, 2024 in Koumra in the province of Mandoul, more than 700 kilometers from the capital Ndjamena, after having traveled almost ten provinces.

Welcomed by his activists 5 kilometers from the city and escorted to the platform of the old Independence Square, in the 3rd arrondissement of Koumra, the MPTR candidate spoke about his future commitments if he was elected, notably to bring Chad out of poverty in order to offer a decent life to Chadians.

Third presidential candidacy for Brice Mbaimon Guedmbaye

Brice Mbaimon Guedmbaye did not fail to be very critical of the transitional government, before calling for a democratic transition of power through the ballot box and not by force: “ Since 1960, power has always been wrested at the end of the gun. We must get out of there, so that our country, since it is a Republic, is governed by laws and not by clans and client kings. »

Supporters who came to attend the meeting are divided regarding the campaign promises. “ We already know who will have the powerasserts one of them. It’s the same things repeating themselves. We don’t see any changes “. Another emphasizes: “ Nowadays, with democracy, you still have to come and gain the trust of the population. »

A third laments: “ We go far to look for water and we have been coming here, to Koumra, since 2017, and there is still no reservoir. So we don’t know if the State has forgotten us, but if it has forgotten us, we too will forget it during this election. »

This is the third time that the national advisor Brice Mbaimon Guedmbaye is running for president.
