During a press conference, Magdalena Andersson (S) comments on the announcement from Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) that came earlier today, where he said that it is likely that Finland will join NATO before Sweden.

    – Just say it like it is. It would not be good for Sweden, says Magdalena Andersson, at the press conference.

    – It would also mean a setback for NATO’s “open door policy”, and then it cannot be ignored that a split between Finland and Sweden would benefit Russian interests, she continues.

Andersson also urges Kristersson to put Sweden and the Swedish people’s safety first, to keep all parties in the Riksdag informed about the development of events and to continue the intensive work forward for Sweden to join NATO.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov describes the cooperation as the “Anglo-Saxon world” preparing for “years of confrontation” in Asia.

The UN agency IAEA is also on guard. According to the organization’s head Rafael Grossi, the pact will be followed carefully to ensure that everything is done transparently and according to existing protocols.
