Landskrona residents Jannice Nettelhed and Sofie Magnusson ready for the footgolf WC

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It was when the footgolf SM was arranged in Landskrona in 2018 that the former soccer players became aware of the sport. The rules are basically the same as in golf, but with a bigger ball and bigger holes.

– I opened my eyes to it and thought that it would probably suit me, says Jannice Nettelhed.

Both she and Sofie Magnusson have previously competed in the SM and EC in footgolf. Now they have been selected for the national team and are two of five ladies who will compete in the footgolf World Cup in Orlando, USA.

– There are approximately 1,000 participants from 40 different countries, so it will be great fun to meet the best, says Sofie Nettelhed.

Few play foot golf

Footgolf is still a relatively small sport in Sweden and there are not enough players to be able to start a footgolf club in Landskrona. At the moment, Jannice and Sofie pay for all competitions themselves.

– We are really trying to attract more girls, we will hopefully have an event this summer where we will let young people try out, says Sofie.
