(Finance) – For La Scala 2023 ended with a series of positive numbers starting from that of spectators and ticket receipts which grew by a fifth compared to 2022. Registered spectators were 450,624, including those of the show created for Villa Verdi, or 73 thousand more than the previous year, thus marking an increase of 20%, and of these a third were under 35 years old. Ticket receipts instead reached 37.4 million euros, up 22% compared to 2022. But this is not an effect of inflation, given that the cost of tickets remained unchanged.

Compared to 2019, i.e. before the pandemic and the arrival of the current superintendent, Dominique Meyer, the takings per single performance increased on average by 14%, while the room filling rate increased by 7%, reaching 94% for concerts, 90% for opera and 89% for ballet. There are 10,333 fixed date season ticket holders, 4% more than the last season and 15% more than two years ago, thanks also to new forms of subscription that have been added to the traditional ones.
