Jonas Eriksson’s great anger after the clear images in SVT – total saws the giant misses: “For me it’s an accident”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

It was a tough night for Canada as the nation entered its first World Cup since 1986 on Wednesday night.
Belgium eventually won 1–0 after North American superstar Alphonso Davies missed a penalty in the first half.
But according to SVT expert Jonas Eriksson, there would have been more penalties than that.

Canada is making its first FIFA World Cup since 1986 and was put to the test directly in the group stage when Belgium were on the other side. However, the North Americans showed no respect in the first half and dominated the game at times, while they probably should have managed at least one of the scoring chances they had.

Burnt penalty

Just over 10 minutes into the match, they got a golden opportunity from the penalty spot, but Bayern Munich’s star Alphonso Davies had his penalty saved by Thibaut Courtois in the Belgian goal. And more penalty situations would emerge for the Canadians.

Among other things, a situation where a Canadian player was clearly stamped on the foot in the penalty area. The judge Janny Sikazwe however, chose not to blow, something got the SVT expert Jonas Eriksson to react.
– This is a half that is anything but good from the referee. There are three mistakes, of which VAR only corrected one. For me it is a failure of Fifa, of the VAR protocol. As a judge, it is crystal clear to me, he says in SVT’s studio.

“The last match he referees”

Eriksson also believes that the missing verdicts could have consequences for Judge Sikazwe.
– For the referee, it is probably the last match he plays. Fifa are quite clear and merciless, if you don’t perform according to their requirements, you don’t get to judge anymore, he says.

It is actually not the first time that Janny Sikazwe has been in the spotlight. During the African championships in January 2022, he was responsible for a real blunder when, in the match between Tunisia and Mali, he chose to blow the match off after 86 minutes. After the match then restarted, he then blew it again – after 89 minutes. The explanation then was that Sikazwe suffered from sunstroke.
