Spanish Jon Rahm has won the first major tournament of the golf season in Augusta, USA. Rahm came from second place to win the Masters in the final round. For Rahm, the prestigious tournament win was the second of his career as a continuation of the 2021 US Open.

Rahm is the fourth Spaniard to win the prestigious Masters. He receives about three million euros in prize money for the win.

Rahm wrote on the day of the decision Brooks Koepkan held a four-stroke lead and eventually went on to a clear four-stroke victory. The second place was shared by the Americans Koepka and Phil Mickelson.

Tormented by storm, wind, rain and cold weather on the final day, in addition to the fourth round, the third round was played at the Masters.

The Spaniard made a clinical mark in the fourth round, recording four birdies and one bogey.

Rahm’s total score of four rounds was -12 (65+69+73+69). Koepka (65+67+73+75) and Mickelson (71+69+75+65) recorded a result of -8.

– Some days things go well, some days they don’t. I tried my best until the end, but I wasn’t good enough, Koepka, who fell from the top spot to second place on Sunday, was upset.

Rahm became sensitive to remembering his Spanish role model

Rahm, who climbed back to the number one spot in the world rankings, dedicated his victory to his role model For Seve Ballesteroswho celebrated his second Masters victory 40 years ago.

Ballesteros died of brain cancer in 2011.

– This is Sevelle. He was up there helping. It is incredibly meaningful that I was able to do this 40 years after his victory, on his birthday, on Easter Sunday, Rahm expressed, according to the news agency AFP.

Rahm made a steady mark under pressure.

– I could look calm, but I was nervous. However, I didn’t panic or get frustrated, I just had confidence in my playing. I felt like I had everything under control, but there was tension.

Apart from Rahm and Ballesteros, other Spanish players have been able to win the Masters Sergio García and Jose Maria Olazabal. Rahm became the first European player to win both the Masters and the US Open.

– It’s hard to believe that I’m the first. That’s a pretty good major pair, the Tournament winner said.

Mickelson, 52, who produced a stunning Kir in the final round, became the oldest player to finish in the top five at the Masters.

“Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough (to win), but it was really fun to play at this level again,” said Mickelson, who celebrated the Masters championship three times.
