Johanna Ojala is forced to break up with Peter Jihde – that’s why Viaplay splits the radar couple ahead of the new ski season

They have been a radar pair ever since Viaplay took over cross-country skiing.
But now the radar couple Johanna Ojala and Peter Jihde are forced to break up.
– Yes, how will it go?, says TV profile Ojala to Expressen.

It’s time for another World Cup season to begin and Ruka will kick off this weekend. We are also entering the third season with Viaplay as the broadcasting TV company after the big move from SVT.

Ojala and Jihde

Ever since the start, the successful duo has Johanna Ojala and Peter Jihde been a radar couple in the studio and managed the skiing broadcasts with safe hands. But now Viaplay is making a big change ahead of the new season and separating the host duo.

Jihde and Ojala will be separated, with one remaining in the studio in Stockholm and the other on site at the competition location together with an expert.
– We want more presence. It’s a certain feeling to be out on the trail and bring it all the way home to the viewers on the TV sofa. We think that is good and important. We believe that the coverage will be both better and more fun to watch, says the TV channel’s sports director Lotta Folcker to Expressen.

Ojala tells

It will therefore be a big change for Johanna Ojala, who has to stand on her own two feet without the much more experienced presenter Peter Jihde.
– It has really worked well between us. We have fun at work, if you say so. He is incredibly skilled and experienced. I have learned a lot from working together with Peter, she tells the evening newspaper about the collaboration with the colleague.

But Ojala, with extensive experience from Vinterstudion in SVT, is not particularly worried about being the only presenter.
– Yes, how will it go?, she says with a laugh in the interview.
– Now it feels a bit like: “Should I stand there by myself? Shouldn’t I have someone to mess with?”. When it’s a non-championship season, we can try something new and do it a little differently. It becomes a different presence. So we thought we’d try it this winter.
