Biden is said to have kept classified documents in his garage during the period after his vice presidency, when he was a private person, AP reports.
It is supposed to be about military documents of sensitive information, including documents concerning internal security issues, which Joe Biden kept in boxes. That’s according to the US Department of Justice’s special investigator Robert K Hur’s report, which was released on Thursday.
Although the report finds that Biden intentionally withheld parts of the material, it is not recommended to press charges.
“We have taken into account that during a trial Biden would likely present himself as a likable, well-intentioned older man with a poor memory to the jury, as he did during our interview with him,” writes Robert Hur in the report.
A vice president has the right to handle classified documents in the residence. However, they should have been returned after the term of office.
However, there are many indications that he kept some of the documents “by mistake”, the report says.
