It was the symbol of the explosion in Lebanon demolished

The wheat silo, which is the symbol of the big explosion that occurred in Lebanon’s Beirut Port 2 years ago, was partially destroyed due to the fire that has been going on for about a month.

According to the information provided by the AA correspondent from the scene, destruction occurred in the northern part of the silo due to the fire.

Due to the destruction, large dust fumes rose in the port and the road passing near the port was closed to traffic for security purposes.

Lebanese Parliament Independent Deputy Nejat Avn, who is in Beirut Port, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that he met with the civil defense teams who followed the situation in the silo and that no damage was caused due to the demolition.

Avn noted that there is no situation that will threaten the health of the people of Beirut due to the demolition, and that the dust from the demolition is quickly destroyed by the wind.

Civil defense and fire brigade teams were kept ready in the area for days due to the possibility of destruction in the silo.

Lebanese Environment Minister Nasser Yasin stated on July 29 that the grain silo in the Beirut Port could collapse at any time and that 200 thousand masks were distributed to the people living in the vicinity against air pollution.
