In the past few days we have been able to look forward to some exciting Netflix announcements about new films and series. However, there is not only good news, but also a bad one: The streaming service has decided to cancel the rollicking action comedy Obliterated after just one season.
This news comes as quite a surprise. Last but not least, Obliterated was able to do so last year in the top 10 for six weeks of the most popular English-language series on Netflix, as Deadline reports. This triumph was apparently not enough for a resounding success. Now the series has been given the death knell.

Obliterated had a pretty funny premise. At the center of the story is an elite unit that is tasked with preventing a bomb attack in Las Vegas. The mission is completed quickly. Afterwards you can celebrate. Alcohol flows freely and some drugs are also involved. The team shoots itself completely. And then comes the terrible news: They have defused a fake bomb.

The elite unit then has to move under the influence of alcohol and drugs Go on a search for the real bomb in order to defuse it in time. As you can imagine, the mission is anything but going according to plan. Obliterated then turns into a crazy mix of R-rated comedies like The Hangover and The Sex Pact and the adrenaline-pumping action of Die Hard.
The series was created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, who are also behind Cobra Kai. The continuation of the Karate Kid films has been on Netflix since season 3 and is one of the most popular series there. But a farewell awaits us here too: Cobra Kai ends this year with the 6th season.
