Israelis displaced from south face shock and uncertainty

While the Israeli army is likely preparing for a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip, surrounding villages in the Gaza Strip have been partly evacuated. Some have also been victims of attacks and abuses by Hamas. These Israelis have therefore been displaced and live either with family, with friends or for others in hotels in Tel Aviv.

Israel continues the hunt for those responsible for the assault of October 7 and continues to demand the evacuation of the population from the north of the Gaza Strip towards the south.

A food distribution takes place outside a hotel in Tel Aviv, where residents of southern Israel have taken refuge. Among them, Kokhavit, who had to leave his village which was declared a military zone. Bordering the Gaza Strip, he was attacked on October 7 and this mother of two is still traumatized: “ We were trapped in our bunker for hours, we could hear shots. 21 people from my village died, it was terrifying. We are still in shock. My husband is still there, because he is in the military. We hope this will all end soon. »

Eithan carries one of his children in his arms, he too had to flee his home and has difficulty projecting himself: “ We have no idea how long we will spend here. It won’t be indefinite. People will have to move from place to place because the war will last weeks, if not months. We’re used to it, but this time, I think it will be really long. »

A week after the Hamas attack, the Israeli response intensifies. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned: the war has only just begun.
