Twenty soldiers belonging to the Syrian army or groups allied to the regime have been killed in two attacks carried out by the terrorist group IS, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.

The one attack, in which 16 regime soldiers were killed, is said to have taken place in the eastern part of Homs province.

In the second attack, which is said to have occurred in the neighboring province of Dayr al-Zawr, additional soldiers lost their lives while two others were reportedly taken hostage.
