In Guinea, the constitutional text delayed by the dissolution of the government

Guinea the position of the authorities on the Niger crisis

Scheduled for last September, the preliminary draft of the new Constitution was to be made public last month. There is no longer any doubt that the transition will go beyond December 31, 2024, but the president of the transition Mamadi Doumbouya announced the holding of the referendum for this year. According to the national transition council responsible for its drafting, the text is ready.

According to a source who follows the file at the national transition council of Guinea, the drafting of the preliminary draft Constitution was completed a few weeks ago. The president of the CNT, Dr. Dansa Kourouma, even committed to making the text public last month after sending it to the government and the Supreme Court for validation.

But this stage, nicknamed “dialogue between institutions”, had to be postponed following the surprise dissolution of the government team in February and the late installation of the newcomers.

This same source estimates that the content of the future fundamental law will be revealed shortly after the presentation of the general policy of the new government.

But this is not the first time that the transitional parliamentary chamber has announced an imminent release of the text. Last June on RFI, Dr Kourouma announced that he was “ in advance » on the timetable and guaranteed delivery of the draft Constitution within three months.
