(Finance) – Great satisfaction from Enac delegationled by the President Pierluigi Di Palma and from Claudio Eminente, Central Director
Economic Planning and Infrastructure Development Enac, representatives of the sector operators (ITA, Neos, Cargolux Italia and the airports of Bergamo and Bologna) were also present at the outcome of the work at the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) event for the negotiation of
air services, ICAN 2023 (ICAO Air Services Negotiation), held in Riyadh from 3 to 7 December 2023. Subscribed bilateral agreements with Kuwait, Egypt, Brazil, Sierra Leone, UK, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kenya and Zimbabwe.

The updating of aeronautical relations under reciprocity with the 9 non-EU countries tends to double the air connections compared to the current regulations, with particular attention to the development of traffic to and from Milan airports (Malpensa e
Bergamo), Rome (Fiumicino) and Venice, as well as for other destinations to and from intercontinental airports in our country.
The agreement with Senegal has also been defined and will be finalized through diplomatic channels. With the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) – ENAC said in a note – steps were taken to guarantee the possibility of significantly increasing cargo traffic, also with fifth freedom rights (the possibility of connecting multiple countries with the same flight) and liberalize charter connections.

In summary, the signed MoUs provide for increases in weekly passenger and cargo frequencies.
Updated agreements: Kuwait – passengers 10 to 21 and cargo 4 to 14; Egypt – passengers from 35 to 60 and 3 cargo frequencies confirmed; Brazil – passengers from 30 to 35 and cargo from 7 to 14; UK – cargo 3 to 7; Bahrain – passengers 14 to 21 and cargo 7 to 21; Saudi Arabia – passengers 28 to 60 and cargo 7 to 14; Kenya – confirmed passengers 21 and cargo from 7 to 14.New agreements: Sierra Leone – 7 passenger and 3 cargo frequencies; Zimbabwe – 14 passenger and 7 cargo frequencies.
