I adjusted a setting in Diablo 4 and now I’m dying a lot less

Most of the time in Diablo 4 is spent fighting. However, sometimes it is difficult to move freely there and you interact with enemies or items. With a small change in your settings, you can move freely even in the wildest combat situations, says MeinMMO author Nicole.

Probably all of us know it. You walk across the map or through a dungeon, get into a horde of enemies and fight them. You get frozen or slowed down, something explodes, you want to run away and attack more enemies instead of running.

In addition, you pick up all the items that get in the way. Not only that you can’t escape from the situation – you also unintentionally clutter up your inventory.

A small change in your keybindings can help you move more freely in fights and not needlessly die or use potion after potion because you keep losing health.

I changed a keybinding to be able to move in any situation and now die a lot less often.

You can level up faster with the help of potions. Here’s a trick if you regularly forget to use it:

Force movement with one click

Which change in the key assignment does this affect? There is an option in Diablo 4 to force a move. The key assignment is also called the same in German in the options.

The option can be accessed via the menu – Options – Controls. You scroll down to Gameplay and you can adjust the assignment there.

Set Force Motion to the leftmost thumb button on the gaming mouse – or any free button of your choice that’s easy to reach.

This makes it possible to walk around freely in fights or to escape without interacting with enemies, boxes or items.

You can now move freely through hordes of enemies using the “Mouse4” thumb button – as long as you are not suffering from negative status effects that slow you down, freeze you or otherwise.

Another option would be to uncheck “Move/Interact/Combine Basic Skill Slot” and assign individual buttons to the actions, as suggested by 3DJuegos.

They name 3 possible combinations:

  • Recommendation 1:
  • left mouse click: movement and interaction
  • Spacebar: dodge
  • Mouse side button: basic ability
  • Recommendation 2:
  • left mouse click: basic ability
  • Spacebar: Movement and interaction
  • Mouse side button: dodge
  • Recommendation 3:
  • left mouse click: movement and interaction
  • Spacebar: Basic ability
  • Mouse side button: dodge
  • We encourage you to try a few options and see which ones best suit your playstyle.
