Horrifying accident at the World Championships in athletics – the

Dramatic moments were seen in the pole vault World Cup final on Saturday. The most gruesome injury happened to France’s Margot Chevrier.

The pole final of the World Athletics Indoor Championships on Saturday night was wildly dramatic. The Finns were naturally upset when Wilma Murto had to withdraw from the race after one crossing due to a leg problem.

Britain won the race Molly Caudery with a score of 480. New Zealand Eliza McCartney was another and the United States Katie Moon third.

Even before the race, one of the favorites, Canada, had to withdraw Alysha Newman. He had injured his ankle in training earlier in the week. Newman arrived at the race venue, but stated in the warm-up that he could not compete.

Newman told the CBC, that he would have jumped forcibly if it had been the Olympics. He said that he had done all the possible treatments and got the ankle swelling to ease, but the pain was just too much.

However, the worst moment was seen in the race after Murtokin had packed his stuff. French Margot Chevrier had exceeded 455, like Murro. At a height of 465, the Frenchman’s jump remained in limbo.

Chevrier tried to get his feet on the landing pad, but failed miserably. Chevrier landed partially past the mattress, and his right leg was twisted.

He immediately saw that the injury was serious. Chevrier’s ankle bone came through the skin, and he screamed in shock.

24-year-old Chevrier quickly received help and supplemental oxygen.

– It was a terrible thing to see, terrible, the Swedish star by Armand Duplantis coach dad Greg Duplantis comment for Aftonbladet.

– At the same time, it is the most common injury in pole vaulting. You fall short and look for a place to put your feet down. That’s when accidents happen.

During the night, Chevrier wrote in the story section of Instagram that he had an open fracture in the tibia of his foot. The metatarsal is the uppermost bone of the ankle.

He was already operated on early on Sunday in Glasgow and another operation is still waiting in France. Considering how gruesome the injury looked, Chevrier shared a startling message.

– Paris2024, I’ll be there, he wrote, referring to next summer’s Olympics.

In addition, the pole vaulter’s front thigh was written in black marker in English: “Paris 24, I’m jumping”.

Chevrier thanked the hundreds of congratulations he received on Instagram.

– Fasten the screws and get back to work.

Chevrier is a multiple French champion. His record is 471.

The pole vault Olympic qualifier will be jumped on August 5 and the final on August 7, so in any case, Chevrier is fighting against time to make it happen, to jump in his home country’s Olympics.

However, Chevrier probably knows what he’s talking about. He has studied to be a doctor.

The World Athletics Indoor Championships will culminate on Sunday evening, March 3. TV2’s broadcast starts at 20:55. Reetta Hurske in the semi-finals at 21:48. Online events are tracked in this article.
