HJK’s 18-year-old Lotta Lindström scored two goals when the Helsinki team beat Ilves 4–0 in the National League match.

Lindström started the scoring in the 14th minute when he ran into the penalty area and shot from the middle of the Ilves defenders with his left foot into the back corner. Ria Karjalainen doubled HJK’s lead six minutes later. Lindström made it 3–0 in the 33rd minute.

Finished the readings Joanna Tynniläwhen there were about 20 minutes of actual game time left.

Lindström is playing his first season in the National League and has scored three goals after four rounds of matches.

The achievement can be considered impressive, because after a long break, Lindström was able to practice football normally only from November. The forward promise injured his knee at the end of 2021, and had to go through 11 months of rehabilitation.

According to Lindström, playing in the women’s main league differs from lower league levels.

– I have been able to keep up with the tempo quite well. Of course, duels are more physical and situations come faster.

The duels decided

Ilves had cleared its three previous matches of the season without losses, but now lost by a clear count. According to Lindström, HJK played well as a team and were able to keep the ball in the attacking third more than in previous matches.

– Everyone was successful in their own one-on-one situations and we won the balls well. We were able to implement the things we had practiced during the week. Scoring and breaking. We were dangerous all the time.

Lynx Aino Rasinen regretted that the team couldn’t get their own game going, and HJK got to run the game.

– We were perhaps too hasty with the ball. In the duels, we were too light. When we got the ball, there was not enough composure. Must be much better.

Top-of-the-line fighting in mind

HJK’s previous championship is from 2019. In the two previous years, the championship has been celebrated by KuPS. Lindström says that the meeting with the reigning champion on May 21 is one of the highlights of the summer.

– The KuPS match in two weeks is what we are aiming for.

In their own match, KuPS beat TPS, who received two red cards, 4–1, and is leading the league with a three point difference to HJK. The people of Kuopio have won all four of their matches.

HPS beat series jumbo Oulu 5–2 and is third in the series, two points behind HJK. 2020 champion Åland United defeated PK-35 Vantaa 6–0 and rose to fourth place. Honka and PK-35 Helsinki managed a 0–0 draw.
