Here, soldiers are trained in first aid for mental illness

One of the soldiers being trained is Viktor. He has personally witnessed friends having panic attacks on the front lines.

– I have had to calm people down, help them and remove them from the front. I’ve seen most of it, says Viktor.

In every brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces there is a mobile psychological group that trains soldiers in mental illness. But the team also has a reception where those who need individual support are offered therapy or can just rest.

– I was in a state where I was breaking down mentally. I had collected way too much crap. At first I thought I could handle it myself, but then when I realized I had reached a limit, I asked for help, says Alonja, who is a patient.

See when SVT’s team gets to join the training in the video above.
