Heavy snowfall and major disruptions on the E4

It is expected to be most difficult during Thursday in Västernorrland, where SMHI has issued an orange warning – the second highest warning level – for both persistent wind and heavy snowfall.

The Swedish Transport Administration has flagged that it could lead to major disruptions on the E4 and early Thursday morning, heavy traffic appears to be particularly heavy on certain stretches.

On the E4 outside Härnösand, several lorries are said to have got stuck on a hill and temporarily stopped northbound traffic.

According to SMHI, the worst storm along parts of the Norrland coast is expected to subside during the afternoon.

E6 still closed

In Götaland and Svealand it looks considerably brighter. Thursday is expected to offer clearer weather with great chances of sun in most places. On the E6 between Malmö and Landskrona, which was closed for most of Wednesday, traffic was reopened at 01:00.

It was also noisy on Wednesday on the E22 in Skåne, where several sections had to be closed after a series of traffic accidents. The storm also brought traffic to a standstill in Western Sweden after several trucks collided in a series collision on the E20.

There are no reports that anyone was injured in the traffic chaos.
