He takes responsibility for the attacks in Haiti – wants to oust the Prime Minister

Some claim that his name comes from the fact that he burns his victims.

46-year-old Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier is the former police officer who united nine gangs in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince – then created complete chaos that forced the civilian population to flee for their lives.

Warns of civil war

Over the weekend, his group, which goes by the name G9, has carried out attacks against, among other things, airports and prisons in an attempt to depose the country’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

“Barbecue” warns that the violence in the capital could lead to a civil war if he does not resign.

The gang in Port-au-Prince, led by the G9, is now estimated to control up to 80 percent of the capital.
