Glenn Hysén nods both Armand Duplantis and Daniel Ståhl for the Bragdguldet – points out a completely different winner

The discussions about who deserves the Gold of Achievement next year have started to flare up.
The former soccer player Glenn Hysén knows where he stands.
– I can probably think so, he says to Sportbibeln.

After a year of several great Swedish performances on the sport’s biggest stages, the discussions about which athlete should win the Gold of Achievement are underway. Several athletes have been balled up, but it is beginning to crystallize who will fight for it.

Bragdguld favorite

Some recent entrants are the national table tennis team on the men’s side, who won EC gold this week. Otherwise, one of the clear favorites is the pole vaulter Armand Duplantis. “Mondo” continues to dominate his sport and has broken (his own) world record twice this year. On the athletics theme, Daniel Ståhl and his WC gold in the discus have also been suggested as the rightful winner.

Sportbibeln has asked Glenn Hysén who he thinks should win the Bragdguldet.
– Oh oh oh. That was not easy.

– But the table tennis national team that won the EC now must be one of the favourites. Then also Duplantis of course. Those are the two I can think of offhand.

Hysén’s winner

Daniel Ståhl has, after all, gotten a little fired up after he won WC gold in the discus.
– Yes, yes, yes. Of course, I didn’t think of that. But there you have three different variants. Then, who will have it…

– I can probably like the table tennis national team, because it has been 21 years since they last won.

The national table tennis team that took EC gold consisted of Truls Möregårdh, Mattias Falck and Kristian Karlsson, who faced Germany in the final. The last time Sweden won European Championship gold in table tennis was in 2002. At that time, the team consisted of the icons Jan-Ove Waldner and Jörgen Persson.
