Shortly before the election for Team of the Year (TOTY) in EA FC 24, a well-known German Twitch streamer voted for his TOTY on FIFA. Although he chose many fan favorites, they made it both probably the best and most successful footballer of the last 20 years did not make the team. Which FIFA expert is it about? Simon Schildgen, better known as GamerBrother, is probably the most famous German EA FC 24 streamer at the moment. In addition to regular streaming content, “Broski” now moderates his own football talk show and is even in demand as a football expert in live broadcasts.
Now the content creator has looked at the choice of TOTY in EA FC 24 and chosen his personal favorites. To do this, he also used various statistics to enable him to make an objective choice. This meant, among other things, that the two stars of the past two decades played no role in the voting.

This is what stands out when choosing: GamerBrother left personal sensitivities aside when making his choice and above all trusted the statistics and expertise.
Manchester City, who not only celebrated the renewed championship in the domestic Premier League but also crowned themselves the best team in Europe thanks to a strong Champions League season, are understandably represented by four players in the voting.
The team with the second most players is FC Bayern. With Kim Min-jae and Harry Kane, the German record champions at least have two players for the TOTY, despite a mediocre 22/23 season at national and international level.
Other Bayern stars and other Bundesliga players are also among the nominees for the TOTY in EA FC 24. We will introduce them to you in detail.
Otherwise, in the expert’s choice we find a colorful mix of stars from the best clubs in Europe’s top leagues. Players outside of Europe did not make it into the expert’s TOTY. It is also clear that the two aging GOATs (Greatest Of All Times) are not candidates for the streamer.
TOTY for the first time in history without Ronaldo and Messi?
What speaks against Ronaldo and Messi in TOTY? For the first time since the introduction of TOTY in FIFA 13, the team cannot include Ronaldo or Messi; at least according to FIFA experts.
Although Ronaldo was one of the most successful scorers worldwide in 2023, these numbers are not enough to convince Broski. In the streamer’s opinion, one must keep in mind that Ronaldo’s goals and assists came primarily in the Saudi Pro League. According to the expert, these cannot yet be compared with the top leagues in Europe despite the addition of stars last summer.
The expert also believes that the same argument also applies to Lionel Messi. The Argentine didn’t need a long warm-up time at his new club Inter Miami in the USA to immediately shine with goals and assists like in his best times; But the level of the American MLS is still nowhere near a level that could compete with top European football.
But fans of the GOATs don’t have to bury their hopes of a TOTY spot straight away for two reasons.
This speaks for Ronaldo and Messi in TOTY:
If the twelfth man were chosen, there would be a bitter aftertaste for a star, because only one of the two could then become the twelfth man and thus outdo the other.
