23:35 – The match summary
Already qualified for Euro 2024, the France team ended its October rally with a superb victory in a friendly match against Scotland (4-1). If the meeting started very badly with the Blues lacking solutions in attack, Billy Gilmour took advantage of a poor recovery from Eduardo Camavinga to open the scoring against the short of the game (0-1, 11th). But this lead only lasted five minutes for Benjamin Pavard to score his first goal of the evening receiving a corner from Antoine Griezmann (1-1, 16th). Less than ten minutes later, the defender scored a second goal with a header after a cross from Kylian Mbappé to give the Blues the advantage (2-1, 24th). While the Blues developed automatisms and chained the chances, Tobias Stieler whistled a penalty for the Blues after a shirt pulling on Olivier Giroud allowing Kylian Mbappé to score his 43rd goal with the tricolor tunic (3-1, 41st). The second half was less intense despite the Blues’ fourth goal via Kingsley Coman (4-1, 70th). Note the first wearing of the captain’s armband for Benjamin Pavard upon the exit of Kylian Mbappé.
23:30 – Pavard: “I’m a rather clever person”
Among our colleagues at TF1, Benjamin Pavard returned to his double this evening against Scotland: “I’m a pretty skilful person, last year I scored seven goals with Bayern. I’m happy to have scored. The first goal, I took it pretty well, there’s a great corner and I put it well, so much the better. I felt very good. I felt like I could score in that match. Someone said to me ‘you’re going to score’, and he was right, I scored a double . My repositioning? I didn’t have any pressure, it’s more the journalists who want to put the pressure on. I was sure of myself, I’ve had a string of good performances since I was at Inter Milan, I feel very good in this position. It’s nice, my coach trusted me in this position, everyone saw that it was my best position. (…) I hope that I will have other opportunities .”

While the October rally ends with a great victory this evening against Scotland, the French team will have two final matches in 2023: France – Gibraltar on November 18 and Greece – France on November 21 .

Since inheriting the captain’s armband with the Blues, Kylian Mbappé has played seven matches, representing as many successes with the France team.
23:15 – Pavard, the first since Zidane
By scoring two headed goals this evening, Benjamin Pavard is the first player to score twice with a header for France in the same match since Zinédine Zidane in the 1998 World Cup final.
23:10 – Pavard carries the Blues
After Gimour opened the score against the court of play, Benjamin Pavard equalized straight away before giving the Blues the advantage. A double for the defender who signs a successful performance alongside Ibrahima Konaté in central defense.
23:07 – The Blues overthrow Scotland!
It’s over at the Stade Pierre Mauroy where the Blues largely won against Scotland (4-1).
23:02 – Fofana comes up against Clark
After good tricolor pressing on the left side, Youssouf Fofana took advantage of Hendry’s error and escaped. In the area, the midfielder strikes with the left but Clark deflects with the left hand before Marcus Thuram takes the ball and passes it to Kolo Muani. Thuram is finally flagged offside.

After a cross from the right by Christie, the Scot found Armstrong at the far post who put his foot back but Mike Maignan ensured and pushed away with his feet. On the next cross, the goalkeeper catches a header from close range.
22:55 – Yellow card for Taylor
After a foul on Coman, Greg Taylor received the third Scottish yellow card after Patterson and Cooper.
22:54 – Coman tries his luck
While Youssouf Fofana tried to ladle Clauss behind the Scottish defenders, the ball returned to the feet of Kingsley Coman who hooked before striking with his left foot but Clark got a good hold of the ball.
22:51 – The bar for Thuram!
The Blues close to 5-1! After a superb control oriented in the direction of play from Kingsley Coman, the winger crosses deep for Marcus Thuram who takes over with first intention with his left foot. But the attacker smashes Clark’s crossbar.
22:47 – New entrants
Boubacar Kamara and Youssouf Fofana replace Aurélien Tchaouméni and Antoine Griezmann as we have just passed the last quarter of an hour of play. For Scotland, the scorer Gilmour gives way to Armstrong while McClean was replaced by Christie.
22:42 – 4-1 for the Blues!
While Scotland had the ball for a few minutes, Theo Hernandez intercepted a pass in the Tartan Army camp to start a counterattack. If Kingsley Coman slipped in the area, he managed to serve Mbappé who shifted Marcus Thuram to the left. The returning striker crossed hard from the left past Clark before Griezmann took the ball back. If it hit the Scottish crossbar, the ball returned to Coman who sent a volley to score the fourth French goal.

If Ousmane Dembélé and Olivier Giroud gave way to Kingsley Coman and Marcus Thuram for the Blues, Souttar and Brown replaced Cooper and Adams for the Tartan Army.
22:34 – Clauss fouls
This mistake was avoidable for Jonathan Clauss. While Ferguson had the ball on the left side of the field thirty meters from the Maignan cages, the side was hooked by Jonathan Clauss. The ensuing free kick came to nothing.
22:31 – Pavard recovers
After a Scottish recovery, Che Adams was found on the right wing but he was overtaken by Benjamin Pavard who finally missed his intervention before deflecting the ball in two stages for Mike Maignan with the tip of his foot.
22:30 – Mbappé in the air
Found on his left side, Kylian Mbappé provokes before serving Antoine Griezmann in the heart of the Scottish surface who puts him back in the air. The captain tries the bicycle to get the ball back but it’s too complicated.
22:27 – Clauss clears
For one of his rare balls to negotiate, Che Adams fixes the French defense on the right before crossing for McLean but Jonathan Clauss anticipates the trajectory and clears the Blues camp.
