Fourth person charged in fatal hit and run

Alex Dalton was struck and killed in April 2021

A fourth person has been charged in connection with a three-vehicle hit-and-run crash last year that took the life of a 23-year-old Hagersville man.

Alexander Dalton was westbound on a motorcycle on King Street West in Hagersville April 23 around 9 pm when he was struck from behind by a sports utility vehicle. Dalton was thrown into the path of an oncoming vehicle and died at the scene.

The SUV involved in the fatality failed to stop at the scene. Since then, Haldimand OPP have arrested and charged four individuals in connection with the collision.

The latest to be charged is Timothy Clarke Anthony, 35, of Waterford. Haldimand OPP report he was arrested at his home Thursday.

In a news release Monday, police say Anthony has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, failure to stop at the scene of a fatal collision, and six counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited.

Witnesses to the incident told police that the SUV continued westbound on King Street West and then headed north on Ojibway Road. There, the vehicle – which had been reported stolen – went into a ditch. Two occupants fled the scene on foot.

In December, police charged Dakota Davis, 25, of Ohsweken, with being an accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offense. Acacia Emery, 25, of Ohsweken, has been charged with public mischief.

More recently, Felicia Kick, 30, of Waterford, was charged with being an accessory after the fact to the commission of an indictable offense.

Anthony appeared at the court house in Cayuga Monday for a bail hearing.

Court services in Cayuga reported Monday afternoon that Anthony was remanded in custody until his next scheduled appearance April 26.
