In forced exile since 2011 by the former Alpha Condé regime to whom he had, ironically, ceded power in December 2010, the former transitional president Sekouba Konaté was warmly welcomed by his family in his native region. of Upper Guinea.

In the company of a handful of relatives, he first visited the notables of Kankan, the main town of the region, before going to his village, still in the savannah region.

In a statement to the local press, he invited Guineans to the rally behind the new master of Conakry who facilitated his return to the country.

He also indicated his intention to go to the capital to greet Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya and thank him in person for allowing him to see his family who remained in Guinea after eleven years of forced separation.

Sekouba Konaté had been removed from his country by Alpha Condé and Blaise Compaoré, the former president of Burkina Faso, on the pretext of allowing him to lead an African force… which never saw the light of day.

Other exiles like the former president Moussa Dadis Camara who took power the day after the death of General Lansana Conté in December 2008 is also expected in the coming days.
