Football: National team star Amanda Nildén out injured on a stretcher against Chelsea

In October 2022, Amanda Nildén suffered a foot fracture after being named player of the month in Serie A when she then belonged to Juventus.

This year is her first year in England with her new club Tottenham, where she has played in nine games so far this season.

During Wednesday’s league meeting with Chelsea, Nildén was there from the start. But the match was only about half a game long for the Swede, who then had to step off injured.

Out on a stretcher

In a ball duel in the penalty area against Chelsea’s Maika Hamano, Nildén stepped crookedly and grimaced on the grass afterwards. On the replays, you could see how the left foot appeared to get a little twisted.

After carefully testing support on the foot, Nildén sat down on the grass again. She was then carried off the plane lying on a stretcher, with her hands over her face in despair.

Kept zero

Chelsea won the match 1-0 after a goal from the aforementioned Maika Hamano. The victory means that Chelsea move up to the league lead on the same points as Manchester City.

The Swedish national team goalkeeper, Zećira Mušović, stood between Chelsea’s posts and kept a clean sheet. In front of her was the compatriot, Nathalie Björn.

Midfielder Johanna Rytting Kaneryd was replaced with 20 minutes left and had to help defend the victory.
