In 2011, Planet of the Apes: Prevolution gave the sci-fi franchise a successful reboot and spawned one of the best sci-fi series of the 2010s with its sequels, Planet of the Apes: Revolution and Planet of the Apes: Survival.

The result was three strong films that set new visual standards and grossed over $1.6 billion at the box office. Next year the series will continue with Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom. Now there’s the first trailer, which promises a visually intoxicating sci-fi spectacle.

Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom continues the sci-fi series with a new story

After a break of seven years, the 2024 sci-fi series breaks new ground narratively and follows a new generation of monkeys. The plot of the fourth Planet of the Apes film takes place many years after the events of the third partin which the leader Caesar was able to find a new home for his ape people before his death.

Humanity is almost completely extinct and the last descendants of this species live as savages. The ape civilization, on the other hand, is flourishing, but conflicts arise between the different clans.

Fans of the sci-fi series can look forward to it again breathtakingly animated monkey characters which are brought to life by the motion capture of the cast around main actor Owen Teague. He embodies the monkey Cornelius, the adult son of the long-deceased Caesar.

The cast of the blockbuster also includes William H. Macy (Shameless), Peter Macon (The Orville) and The Witcher star Freya Allan.

Part 4 is directed by Wes Ball, who previously directed the Maze Runner trilogy.

When does Planet of the Apes 4 start in cinemas?

The new Planet of the Apes film starts on May 23, 2024 in German cinemas.

After the conclusion of the trilogy about Caesar, Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom now introduces his son Cornelius as the new hero of the story. If successful, this should be developed into a new trilogy. However, concrete plans for Planet of the Apes 5 and 6 are not yet known.
