What do you need hard coal for? You mainly need coal to produce refined iron ingots. You need these to make better weapons and ammunition. Unless you want to run around with a bow and arrow later.

Where can you find hard coal? Hard coal can be found in various locations on the map:

  • In dungeons: On the one hand, you can find coal in random dungeons. But you have to be a little lucky for that. However, in the dark dungeons, coal is difficult to distinguish from stone. So take a torch with you. You can also find ancient components in dungeons.
  • In the northernmost part of the map: On the other hand, you can find coal in the large desert region that is located in the very north of the map. Anubis also spawns here, who we consider to be one of the best Pals in battle.
  • In the Western Desert: There is also a smaller desert in the west of the map. You can also find coal here.

    • Once you have mined all the coal, you have to wait a while. After a while the coal seam regenerates and you can mine the stuff again.

    Tips: Before you head out into the desert, you should make yourself some heat-resistant armor. Otherwise you will suffer from the heat and lose life points. You can create the tropical costume at level 9. You need 3 materials, 2 fire glands and a primitive workbench.

    Also create space in your inventory beforehand, because coal is quite heavy and requires a lot of space. Take Cattiva with you as support, which can temporarily increase your carrying capacity by 50 points. We count Cattiva as one of the best starters in Palworld.
