Four people are already in custody after Säpo’s major terrorist attack in Tyresö in March.

A fifth person was arrested on Friday.

It is a man in his 60s with connections to the Islamic cultural association in Tyresö.

He is suspected of participation in a terrorist organization.

At the beginning of March, the police together with the security police raided several places in Tyresö. Among other things, a room that is rented by an Islamic association and used as a mosque.

In at least one of the raids, weapons were seized.

According to Säpo, the crackdown came after an investigation that was conducted “for a long time” together with the police.

Two brothers in their 20s, who according to information converted to Islam during their teens, are suspected of preparation for terrorist crimes and serious weapons crimes.

The suspected brothers are said to have often visited the Islamic cultural association.

On Friday, another person was arrested, a man in his 60s who has connections to the Islamic cultural association in Tyresö.

The man is a Swedish citizen and previously unpunished. He came to Sweden from Somalia in the 90s.

Prosecutor Lars Hedvall says that the man was detained on probable cause on suspicion of participation in a terrorist organization in Tyresö municipality.

– We have had an interest in having the detention tried and it was granted, he says.

Lars Hedvall is banned from public speaking and cannot comment further on the information.

Charges are planned to be filed on May 6, but it will probably take longer than that, he believes.

– In general, it can be said that this type of investigation takes a long time, so I find it difficult to see it happening then.

Representatives of the cultural association in Tyresö have previously told Aftonbladet that they are shocked by what happened and deny terrorist connections.

When Aftonbladet reaches the association’s spokesperson on Monday, they say that they are not aware that a person connected to the cultural association is in custody and that the investigation into the membership is still ongoing.

Aftonbladet has sought the Islamic cultural association in Tyresö without success.
