Fantastic Beasts franchise may end with third movie

The Fantastic Beasts series may end with the third movie. The script of the previously planned fourth movie of the series has not even been written yet.

The Fantastic Beasts series, which has not fallen off the agenda with both casting and delays, may end with the third movie. There is a possibility that Warner Bros. will either approve the fourth and fifth films or shelve the series, depending on the film’s box office performance. Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore, whose review points are down, will determine the fate of the series.

Fantastic Beasts series in danger of being unfinished

The series, originally planned as 5 films, would normally end with Grindelwald’s defeat in 1945 after “the biggest duel in the history of sorcery”. From the very first movie, the plot was prepared accordingly. We would see the rise of Grindelwald with Crimes of Grindelwald, and the dark aspects of Dumbledore’s life with the current movie Secrets of Dumbledore. Then the series would be completed with the fifth film.

Warner Bros. has not given instructions to write the script for the fourth movie at this stage. This means that if Secrets of Dumbledore falls short of expectations, the series will be incomplete. Secrets of Dumbledore was only able to be released in March 2022, when the process of removing Johnny Depp from the movie, the overhaul of the script of the movie in 2019 and the pandemic process overlapped.
