Fifa has decided to raise the prize money for the Women’s World Cup by a record amount. For the upcoming World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand, the prize money is increased by as much as 300 percent.

1.5 billion

The FIFA President Gianni Infantino announces at the International Football Association Congress in Rwanda that the world’s best women’s national team will share in a whopping 1.5 billion kroner in this summer’s World Cup tournament. It is a shock increase on the previous ceiling for prize money and an important victory for all those who fought for a more equal football world.

The 2023 FIFA World Cup will be the ninth women’s World Cup and will be played from July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand. Sweden are once again qualified and will face Argentina, Italy and South Africa in the group stage.

Sweden’s first match will be against South Africa on July 23, then Italy on July 29 and finally Argentina on August 2. All Swedish group stage matches are played in New Zealand.
