It was in June 2022 that the workplace accident occurred at Ica Maxi in Karlstad. An employee was filling a cleaning bottle with the chemical substance Benzal chloride, when it splashed into the eye.
According to the sentencing order, which News24 took part in, the ICA employee injured his cornea on the occasion, and had to be on sick leave for 14 days.

Ica Maxi Karlstad is now fined SEK 125,000, because the store “acted negligently by not assessing the risk of the work in question”.
