Ebba Andersson chose to stay at home – when all her friends went to Italy.
Then she had a sudden realization.
– I wasn’t prepared for that, says the star.
Ebba Andersson was the winter’s big dominant in the skiing world. At least when it was the WC, when Ebba Andersson went home as the big medal queen. She had a huge breakthrough and goes into this season as perhaps the most favored skater in every distance race.
Explains the decision
And she doesn’t exactly go with the flow when it comes to preparation. During the late summer and early autumn, the national team mates have been to high-altitude camps and to nice places out in Europe. The national team was in Livigno all of last week, but Ebba Andersson chose to stay in Östersund, where she trained on her own.
An unexpected decision, according to many, but Ebba Andersson has a plan, and she follows it carefully.
– I have opted out of high altitude this time of year. It’s not like I opted out of height overall this year. Only prioritized when I wanted it in, she tells Aftonbladet.

Honest insight
However, Ebba Andersson has noted that the friends had a good time, not least via nice pictures on Instagram – but she also came to an insight that she might not have expected.
– In a way, I was very prepared for pictures to appear on Instagram because if you are down there training in Livigno in a great environment together with your friends, it is clear that you want to show it off. So I was prepared for that. However, I wasn’t really prepared for the fact that I would miss hanging out with them as much as I actually have, she says.
However, Ebba Andersson has not been training all by herself. She says that there has been a lot of sparring with, for example, boyfriend Gustaf Berglund.
– It is mainly Gustaf and Fredrik (Andersson, brother) who have been my training companions. Since then, I have had some training company elsewhere during certain sessions. Most recently yesterday and the day before that, I was accompanied by Lisa Eriksson in Sollefteå. She lives here. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag. But above all, it will be Fredrik and Gustaf that I go out for training with. They are very accessible to me, she says.
