A physician performed patient assessments and prescribed narcotic-class medications without keeping complete patient records. Now the doctor is put on a three-year probationary period by the Health and Medical Service’s Accountability Board (HSAN).

The deficiencies in record keeping existed for a longer period of time and affected 19 of the patients the doctor had during the period he worked at a treatment home in Värmland. The doctor was notified by the Inspectorate for Care and Care in the summer of 2021 as they believe that the unskillful behavior could affect the safety of the patients, reports Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.

The doctor already received similar criticism in 2018 when working in Norway. At the time, the doctor had prescribed addictive drugs without documenting his psychiatric assessment and the rationale for the chosen treatment.

The doctor is no longer practicing and probably says he has no intention of working as a doctor again. Despite this objection, the HSAN insists on putting the doctor on a three-year probationary period.
