Defense researcher: Largest Ukrainian offensive since November

Data indicate that Ukraine’s expected counter-offensive has now begun, the one previously called the “spring offensive”, and that the fighting in the south-eastern parts of the country has intensified.

– It is not Ukraine’s only chance, but it is their best chance to inflict a strategic loss on Russia that could affect the outcome of the war, says Oscar Jonsson, researcher at the Norwegian Defense Academy.

It is difficult to say exactly when this offensive begins, as neither side wants to confirm the information, but it is clear that there has been a marked increase in Ukrainian attack attempts.

– These are the largest Ukrainian offensive operations since November last year.

But at the same time, he believes that there will not be any major breakthroughs even now.

– Some expect a big Alexander coup that will win the whole war. It is important to moderate expectations. This will go on for months. Ukraine will attack along certain axes and see where they break through and can continue. This is a very early stage.
