Stina Nilsson has had a very tough season.
Not much has gone right for the Swede during her fourth season as a biathlete.
Now even her national team place may be in danger.

Many had high expectations for that Stina Nilsson would take further steps towards the absolute world top in biathlon ahead of this season. But it has been a very tough winter for the Swede.

Stina’s adversity

First she lost her place in the World Cup and then she was not allowed to go to the Biathlon World Cup. Now she can also be forced off the Swedish national biathlon team.

Because something drastic will have to happen in Stina Nilsson’s development if she is to reverse this gloomy trend. Even during the SM week, it has been tough for the 30-year-old.

The concern for Nilsson

Saturday’s sprint race resulted in six misses in ten shots and a ninth place in the results list. Sunday’s mass start was slightly better with a seventh place and only four barriers.

But now the SVT expert opens Helena Ekholm up about his concern for Stina. Where the blue-yellow national team place is in danger.
– I would believe so. It is difficult to know how many will be there, but someone like Anna-Karin Heijdenberg should come along, says Ekholm in the television broadcast.

23-year-olds Anna-Karin Heijdenberg came fourth in the SM sprint and then sixth in the mass start and can go ahead of Nilsson in the fierce competition on the women’s side. It was all the better for Stina Nilsson in the single mixed relay on Monday, where she sprinted past Elvira Öberg and secured a fourth place in the last SM race of the season.
