Collision near Scotland claims life of driver

A two-vehicle collision on Highway 24 South in the County of Brant has claimed the life of one individual.

Brant OPP, fire and paramedics were called to the scene just after 10 pm Saturday, December 18 on Highway 24 between Oakland Road and Elliott Road, north of Scotland.

Police say the two SUV’s were traveling on Highway 24 when they collided, resulting in the driver of one vehicle being pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to an area hospital, and then transferred to a Hamilton hospital for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second SUV was treated for minor injuries at a Norfolk County hospital.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.

The stretch of Highway 24 where the collision occurred was closed for about six hours overnight as members of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team conducted an investigation.
