Christian Atsu stuck in the racial masses after the earthquake in Turkey

Former Chelsea and Newcastle player Christian Atsu has been found alive after being stuck in the rubble following the earthquake in Turkey, according to The Guardian.

Atsu is said to have been taken to hospital with an injured right foot and breathing difficulties.

31-year-old Atsu, who has made 60 caps for Ghana, plays for Turkish club Hatayspor.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish journalist reported Yağız Sabuncuoğlu that Atsu and Taner Savut were stuck in the racial masses and that the rescue service is actively looking for the duo.

At 19:00, Swedish time, Reuters writes that Hatayspor’s vice-chairman Mustafa Ozat confirms it to the Turkish television channel Play Spor.

– Christian Atsu and Taner Savit are still under the racial masses, Ozat tells the channel.

Ozat also tells BeIN Sports that several players and leaders have been rescued from the mobs and that the club is helping others.

During the evening, The Guardian brought new information – that Christian Atsu was found alive and that he has been taken to hospital. According to the British newspaper, he has injured his right foot and has breathing difficulties.

The earthquake occurred on the night of Monday and had a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale. According to Turkish media, it should have had its epicenter at a depth of seven kilometers, and occurred three kilometers outside the city of Gaziantep, near the border with Syria.

The death toll has risen rapidly in both Turkey and Syria on Monday and over 3,000 people have been confirmed dead.
