Chinese alternative to WoW removes gender lock, now introduces the first class with gender change

The development team behind the MMORPG Tarisland keeps its promise and lifts the gender lock. We get our first look at the female paladin, which previously only existed as a male variant.

What does the female paladin look like? The female paladin is similar in design to the male paladin. She has light blonde, short hair and blue-brown armor with silver and gold elements.

The development team shares a first image of the female paladin on X.com (formerly Twitter). The new class is well received in the accompanying comments. Many users are happy about the new design and hope that the other classes will be revised just as well:

Gender lock should be lifted for all classes of the MMORPG

Which other classes will follow? After the second closed beta, Tencent listened to player feedback and promised that it would remove the gender lock for all classes. This means that all classes should be able to be played as female and male variants.

This means that the following classes will also have an opposite-sex counterpart:

  • Warrior
  • Mage
  • Teacher
  • Shadow
  • ranger
  • poet
  • fighters

    • However, the process would take a lot of time. That’s why it may take some time before the development team can show new images. It therefore asks players to be patient, as all animations would have to be adjusted for the opposite gender.

    What else is new in Tarisland? In a blog entry, Tencent revealed something about the lore of Tarisland. The planet of the same name is said to have been created by a Big Bang. Later, life emerged and a civilization emerged. This was accompanied by a conflict.

    The following creatures are in the dispute:

    They had different ideas about the development of the planet. Fatuina wanted to help develop the planet, the other two wanted to destroy all life instead. To help civilization, Fatuina has scattered clues around the planet in the form of stone fragments. They are supposed to help unravel the big secret and save the planet.
