Chatham man wins 100000 playing Encore

A Chatham retiree plans to purchase a new vehicle with his winnings from a recent Lotto Max draw.

Robert Brown won $100,000 by matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order. The father of one also won $10,000 earlier this year playing Lottario.

“I play the lottery regularly. I always check my numbers on OLG.ca after the draws and I had to do a double take at the computer when I noticed I won,” he said while at the OLG Prize Center in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

“I normally don’t play Encore, but I decided to add it this time.”

Brown first shared the news with his daughter, who was “dumbfounded and shocked,” he said.

“This win is a blessing,” he said.

Encore costs an extra $1 to play and can be added to most lottery games.

The winning ticket for the Aug. 5 draw was purchased at Charlie’s Variety on Kiel Drive in Chatham.
