Capone, UGL: “Good record number of employed. Promote greater inclusion of women”

Capone UGL Good record number of employed Promote greater inclusion

(Finance) – The event “Women of Work, Women of Values”, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day. At the center of the meeting was the story of women who have managed to establish themselves in various professional fields.
For Paolo Capone, General Secretary of the UGL: “This year too, the “Donne di Lavori, Donne di Valori” award wants to demonstrate the attention of the UGL to all the women of Italy. This meeting featured working women who achieved important objectives and were awarded for their merit. The latest data from Labor Consultants, based on recent Istat data entitled “Trends in female employment in Italy to 2024”, report a record level of over 10 million employed women in January 2024.

Positive data especially for the older age groups, in particular those aged 55-64, who recorded an increase of 284 thousand employed people (+15.1%) between 2019 and 2023. However, there was a significant decrease in central age groups: among 35-44 year olds, employment drops by 7.9%, with a balance of around 200 thousand fewer employed people. Despite the encouraging data, it is necessary not to lower our guard and strengthen interventions to protect women starting from issues such as safety at work, equal pay and the entry into the labor market of working mothers. Furthermore, the UGL considers it a priority to invest in active policies, training programs and the reconciliation of work and life times to achieve greater inclusiveness starting from the professional sphere”.
