    On October 11, the Prime Minister announced her intention to continue and intensify the policy carried out since 2018 in favor of people with autism spectrum disorder and/or neurodevelopmental disorder.

    Autism and more generally neurodevelopmental disorders (attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity, DYS disorders and intellectual development disorder) and assistance to families will have their place in the actions carried out by the government these next 5 years. In any case, this is announced in a press release written at the end of the interministerial disability committee of October 6, 2022.

    The need to continue the efforts put in place

    The decision is taken in relation to the inventory made around these neurodevelopmental disorders in France:

    • This is a major public health issue which concerns 12 to 15% of births;
    • The quality of life of the families concerned has greatly increased since the first actions carried out (early diagnosis, quality of support, etc.) and must continue;
    • Certain populations, such as adolescents and adults with autism, must be the subject of reinforced actions.

    The main lines to come

    To this end, Mrs. Geneviève Darrieussecq, Minister Delegate in charge of Disabled Persons announces in a press release dated October 11, that nearly €80 million are included in the social security financing bill for 2023 in the continuity of the current national strategy, in particular to:

    • The opening of coordination and orientation platforms for children between 7 and 12 years old and the strengthening of those for 0-6 years old;
    • The creation of residential units for autistic adults in very complex situations;
    • The creation of devices for schooling within the ordinary school;
    • The continued deployment of relay services for caregivers or the installation of the Maison de l’autisme.
