In addition to the Aquaman films, James Wan is best known as a horror director of works such as Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring. When the team comes across old underwater statues while diving, they take photos of them.

The sound that can be heard also appears in the first 30 seconds of Tobe Hooper’s horror milestone Blood Court in Texas aka The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Here a grave robber digs up various body parts in order to use them to create a bizarre figure, which can be seen right at the beginning of the horror shocker. The one second long noise that the Flashlights in the graves created in Hooper’s work can also be heard in Aquaman 2 when taking flash photography underwater.
