The Lord of the Rings: Amazon’s The Rings of Power series makes a dark promise for Season 2

Just last week we received new information about the second season of the Lord of the Rings series, which announced the return of massive film creatures and also introduced a new wizard who will train Sauron’s ultimate opponent. Because season 2 largely revolves around the villain reveal in season 1 Sauron’s rise to power.

As Movieweb reported, director Charlotte Brändström has one First version of the new 8 episodes already seen and now gave the first brief insights:

Lord of the Rings series gets even darker in season 2

What I know and can already say is that [Staffel 2] definitely darker, edgier and more character-driven will be. […] I watched all the rough cuts of the episodes over Christmas and I think it’s going to be a very good season. We tried the series harder and also a little dirtier close. Not on the image level, but in terms of making it as authentic as possible. we also have some very surprising twists and turns in the story.

After season 1 had already revealed many surprises about character identities, season 2 of The Rings of Power sticks to this recipe for suspense (despite the changed tone). If she promised twists probably something to do with the Sauron actor being doubled?

In season 1, Charlotte Brändström directed episodes 6 and 7. In season 2, she is the only director returning and, according to the fan site Fellowship of Fans, is directing episodes 1, 3, 7 and 8, i.e. twice as many episodes as her new director colleagues, filmmakers Louise Hooper and Sanaa Hamri.

When does the second season of the Lord of the Rings series start on Amazon Prime?

An official start date for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has not yet been announced by Amazon. However, it can be assumed that the second season will be around Fall 2024 will be published on Prime.
