Aggressive call centers: AGCM-ARERA communication campaign restarts

Aggressive call centers AGCM ARERA communication campaign restarts

(Finance) – “Defend yourself like this” starts again todaythe communication campaign organized by AGCM – Competition and Market Authority and ARERA – Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment to provide consumers with advice and information to defend themselves from the insistence or unfairness of some call centers.
The resumption of the campaign – explains the note – “it became necessary following the increase in pressure on call centers in view of the end of protection, a phase in which it will be of crucial importance provide consumers with an important tool to counter the phenomenon of aggressive teleselling, i.e. commercial telephone calls for the sale of supply contracts (the most numerous on energy
and gas, but also for telephone offers, insurance, etc.). Reports – also received from consumer associations – ranging from a generic “insistence” of phone calls, to incomplete or false offers, to non-explicit recordings, up to alleged phone calls made in the name of the Authorities themselves (who, remember, never call )”.

The communication campaign – we read further – “is aimed at the adult public (i.e. citizens with the potential ability to sign contracts) and will be disseminated through a TV and radio spot in the RAI spaces made available by the Department for Information and the publishing of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and in the organic web and social channels of AGCM and ARERA.

Finally, on the reference site you can find information on consumer rights and the most recurring reports collected by the two Authorities. To learn how to protect yourself from teleselling you can navigate between the sections “How to defend yourself”, “How we can help you”
and “How can you contact us”.
