January 2016: Germany is looking forward to the European Football Championships in France, the first tournament since the 2014 World Cup title. Film fans are looking forward to the DC hits Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad. The 6th season of Game of Thrones will be released in four months – and a sci-fi series called Colony will premiere on the small channel USA Network. It is star-studded, with Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Ryan Condal (House of the Dragon) as the showrunners. It made it to Germany in 2017, but only on pay TV.

Epic sci-fi story: That’s what Colony is all about
The story of Colony is set in a near future where the world, especially Los Angeles, has changed. Gigantic walls surround the metropolis of millions. People can only imagine what lies behind it. The reason: An invasion by aliens has taken place.
Now the population is divided into those who cooperate with the aliens – and those who join the resistance as rebels. In this conflict, Will Bowman (Josh Holloway from Lost) and his wife Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies from The Walking Dead) are separated from their son.
Is Colony even worth it?
Colony lasted three seasons with a total of 36 episodes – a remarkable number. The series has found its audience. At Moviepilot it has a very solid overall rating of 6.8. “The characters are complex and you give them time to develop”praised dwaddy.“
At the start we criticized the (naturally) economical CGI: The series doesn’t have nearly the budget to make one Alien invasion portray credibly. Colony cannot hide this deficiency. However, the human drama and character development are in the foreground anyway. If you’re into that, you shouldn’t miss Colony.

On January 29, 2024, Tele 5 will start broadcasting Colony. There are double episodes on Mondays from 10 p.m. If you want, you can spend around 18 weeks with the sci-fi series.
