A new €15 MMO shooter dominates Steam with 74,375 players, 90% positive reviews – No microtransactions

The MMO first-person shooter “BattleBit Remastered” reaches a new high in the number of players on Steam. 74,375 players were online at the same time on the night of Sunday, June 25th. The secret of the game: There is no catch. There is a lot of game for less than €15. Former Battlefield fans in particular are enthusiastic.

What kind of game is this?

  • We wrote twice about “BattleBit Remastered” on MeinMMO: Once we called it a “LEGO” Battlefield, a second time we said it looked like “Battlefield ordered on Wish”.
  • Battlebit is a chaotic MMO shooter with up to 254 players. The team prides itself on robust anti-cheater mechanics with active moderators. The proximity chat is also highlighted as a feature.
  • The special thing about the game: there are no microtransactions, you get the whole game for €14.79 and you can unlock more things through in-game successes that you would have to buy in a shop elsewhere. Only a supporter pack for €19.50 is still sold on Steam.

Finally no Free2Play game that has to grow first

What is the reason for success? As the PC Gamer site points out, there’s just a hell of a game for €15:

  • 6 classes
  • 39 unlockable weapons with 78 attachments
  • dozens of class-specific gadgets
  • dedicated servers for 254 players
  • 17 destructible maps with day and night
  • As PC Gamer says, it seems silly to praise a game for delivering enough value for money, but we’re used to playing free-to-play shooters that start with little content and only evolve over time.

2023 is great to jump back into a game that offers so much content right from the start.

BattleBit was released on June 15th. The success seems to prove the game right. Last night Steam broke the previous record with 74,375 concurrent players.

Reviews: 3 people can do what AAA studios fail to do

    What the reviews say:

  • “A game so immersive your brain will enhance Roblox graphics for you”
  • “Enjoy a first-person shooter developed by 3 people that completely undermines and destroys what DICE and other AAA studios have failed to do for years.”
  • “10/10 – Make sure you rattle death sounds into the mic when you die.”
  • What do the negative reviews say? The negative reviews are about compatibility problems, problems with cheaters, allegedly mainly from Asia. Some just don’t like the gameplay or the controls.

A German writes on Steam after 18 hours with BattleBit Remastered: “I hate this game, since then my life has been going downhill” – who knows what happened there.

Apparently, fans of the recently disappointing “Battlefield” series in particular seem to be happy with BattleBit.
