The secrets of a former DGSE agent on the end

In service from 1985 to 2002, Jean-Pierre Augé spent seventeen years in the “Black Africa” department of the DGSE. A time, which he describes as “the twilight of Françafrique”, where relations weakened, and tensions accumulated with the former French colonies.

In his book (Farewell Africa. Memoirs of an officer from the Black Africa sector of the DGSE – Mareuil ed.), he recounts his feats of arms, and certain anecdotes that are unimaginable today, such as this presidential election in Chad in 1996 where it was suggested to the winner of the vote to organize a second round, even though he had collected more than 60% of the votes in the first round. Jean-Pierre Augé’s testimony can be found in this video, but also in a long interview published on our site.
